MaziShare

Privacy Policy

Last Updated: August 2, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how MaziShare ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares your personal information when you use our mobile application and related services.

1. Data We Do NOT Collect

We pride ourselves on a "Privacy-by-Design" approach. Most importantly:

  • Photos and Videos: We do NOT store your photos or videos on our servers. Uploads are relayed through our server to your designated Google Drive or Dropbox folder - the file is streamed straight through and is never written to disk or kept.
  • Cloud Credentials: We do NOT see or store your Google or Dropbox passwords. Authentication is handled entirely by the respective service's secure OAuth sign-in.

2. Data We Collect

To provide our service, we collect minimal information:

  • Account Information: When you host an event, we receive your basic profile information (Email, Name) via the Google or Dropbox API.
  • Guest Identification: If a guest chooses to provide a display name when uploading, that name is attached to the file metadata in your cloud storage.
  • Technical Logic: We store Event IDs and Folder IDs in our database to facilitate the link between hosts and guests.
  • How You Found Us: When you host your first event, we may ask "how did you find us?" as an optional question; your answer is stored against your account.
  • Consent Records: When you accept these Terms or the Privacy Policy, or opt in or out of marketing communications, we record the timestamp, your IP address, and your browser's user-agent string as an audit trail of that consent.

3. Use of Google & Dropbox User Data

MaziShare's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

  • Google drive.file: Used to create folders and upload files to folders created by the app.
  • Dropbox: Used to create folders and manage specific app-folder content as authorized.

4. Your Rights & Data Deletion

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your data at any time.

  • Right to Erasure: You can request that we delete your account and associated event data from our backend.
  • How to Delete: Please visit our Account Deletion Request page for detailed steps on how to remove your data.

5. Marketing & Feedback Communications

We will only send you marketing emails or requests for feedback and surveys if you have separately opted in — this consent is always separate from, and never required to use, MaziShare. You can withdraw it at any time via the unsubscribe link included in every such message.

6. Internal Notifications & Staff Access

When a new event is created, a notification containing the event name and chosen storage provider is sent to the MaziShare team via Telegram so we can monitor for problems. If the service encounters technical errors, a summary notification (error type and affected area, not your personal data) is also sent via Telegram so we can respond quickly. A small number of MaziShare staff also have access to a read-only internal dashboard showing aggregate usage (host emails, event names and codes, and guest/upload counts) to operate and improve the service. This data is never sold or shared with third parties for advertising.

7. Cookies & Analytics

We use Google Analytics (via Google's gtag.js) to understand aggregate site usage, such as which pages are visited. Google Analytics uses cookies and may collect your IP address and device information subject to Google's own privacy policy. This data is used only to improve MaziShare; it is not used for advertising.
